REED WINS AGAIN, HARRINGTON HITS 500 MILESTONE

In a week where Ireland’s Pádraig Harrington reached a magical 500 tournament appearances milestone, Patrick Reed kept up his recent imperious form to win his second DP World Tour event in three weeks with a two-stroke triumph at the 2026 Qatar Masters.
The American, who won his first Rolex Series title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic before finishing runner-up at last week's Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, continued his red-hot start to the year with victory at Doha Golf Club.
The five-time DP World Tour winner carded a two under par final round of 70 to finish on 16 under, two ahead of Scotland’s Calum Hill who recorded his second consecutive runner-up finish.
“I feel amazing. This one hasn’t fully sunk in yet but today, with how stressful the day was and to be able to come out and kind of flip the switch around the back nine, and be able to just make par on the last hole obviously feels amazing,” said Reed after his latest win.
“The golf we’ve played since basically the off-season has been some stellar golf, I feel really confident in my golf game right now, and it’s always awesome to come and play the way we do, especially over here.
“This is going to allow me to take confidence going into the rest of the year, especially with the different ways I had to do it. I had a really comfortable lead in Dubai, and then I had to come chase last week, and then here to have a lead and then lose it and have to fight back.
“I basically did it all three different ways and for me it’s just kind of build on the great things and just move forward and look forward to the rest of the year.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to win the Race to Dubai, especially as an American. Americans have always come over and supported this Tour, and it’s always been a dream to come over and have an opportunity to win the Race to Dubai.”
Reed took a two-shot lead into the final round over Jacob Skov Olesen but after the Dane birdied the first hole and Reed bogeyed the second, the pair were tied at the top.
Oliver Lindell quickly joined them and even moved a shot ahead of Reed, starting his round in thrilling fashion with six birdies and two bogeys before he rounded off the front nine with his first par.
The Finn birdied the 11th but followed that up with consecutive three-putt bogeys, with Reed birdieing the 10th and 11th to move two shots ahead once more.
Jayden Schaper produced Sunday's lowest round, a bogey-free seven-under-par 65, to set the early clubhouse target at 11 under - which was improved to 13 under when Johannes Veerman holed a long birdie putt at the last to finish off his 68.
Hill chipped in to eagle the tenth and made four consecutive birdies from the 14th to launch a late run into contention, before a par at the last saw him sign for a 14-under total.
Reed birdied the 14th before parring his way in to seal the fifth DP World Tour victory of his career and climb into pole position on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World.
Olesen and Veerman shared third place, with Lindell and Dan Bradbury joined by Angel Ayora and Sebastian Söderberg on 12 under for a share of fifth. The top 10 was completed by Schaper, Gregorio De Leo, David Micheluzzi, Antoine Rozner and Kazuma Kobori in a tie for ninth on 11 under.
Harrington reached a remarkable milestone in his long and distinguished professional golf career by making his 500th appearance on the DP World Tour at this week’s Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club. The three-time major champion, whose tour journey began in the mid-1990s, joined an exclusive group as only the 50th player to reach 500 DP World Tour starts, testament to his longevity, consistency and dedication to the sport.
Tournament organisers and fellow competitors marked the moment with a special tribute, and Harrington’s opening round of one-under par 71 helped kick off the landmark event with flourish, illustrating his continued competitiveness even against much younger fields. At the tournament’s conclusion Harrington finished tied 34th at five under par, underlining that he wasn’t merely there for the occasion.

"It hasn't fully set it in yet. Today was a lot harder than expected, I knew it was going to be. I just couldn't get anything going on the front nine, I think I learned a lot about the round today,” said Reed.
"Instead of keeping my foot on the gas early, I tried to protect that four-shot lead and then David goes and birdied eight and nine and shut it down to two.
"Kess (Kessler Karain, caddie) was like 'it's a dogfight, now let's get going and shoot under par on the back nine and no-one will beat you'. We were able to get that birdie there on 13 to get to one under and he (Puig) gave me a gift there by bogeying, from there on it was hit fairways, hit greens and make no mistakes.
"It was a grind. It was one of those nine holes, I really didn't feel like I hit it that bad. Just couldn't get anything really close, and when I did, maybe over-read a couple putts, but besides that, kind of steady.
"It feels amazing. You know, just kind of one of these things that any time I came to this event, obviously feel like kind of shows how the off-season was, like if the things we were working on were successful and working.
"To be able to come so close in '23, and to have an opportunity today to have a chance to win the golf tournament at the start and see the lead dwindle, it kind of went away; and once I got to the back nine and to be able to play some solid golf on the back to get a very comfortable lead out there for the last couple, it was nice."
