Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin was forced to withdraw from his defence of this week’s Link Hong Kong Open due to s stomach bug.
The untimely illness means the 23-year-old will not be able to match the feat of 12 months ago when he cruised to victory, in a performance that also secured his place in The Open and a debut at The Masters.
His place in both these Majors in 2027 is now in some doubt.
After last week’s top 10 in India, McKibbin was edging closer to the DP World Tour Playoffs. In any case, he looks certain to have secured his playing rights on the DP World Tour for next season.
