LYNCH LANDS ULSTER MID-AM WIN IN PORTSALON

Rosslare’s Ian Lynch fired a closing 68 to claim a two stroke win at the Ulster Mid-Amateur Open Championship at Portsalon Golf Club in Donegal.

Lynch steered a steady course with opening rounds of 74, 74, before a closing five-under 68 ensured a winning three-under 216 total, two ahead of Belvoir Park’s Scott Jones, who closed with a 67, the lowest round of the week.    

The leading pair were the only players to dip under par with SLieve Russell’s Seamus Cullen third on one-over, ne ahead of Darren McCormack (Corrstown) in fourth.

Cullen also claimed the over 40s title, with Jones securing the Best Gross Score and Best Nett Score of the championship.
